YWAM SHIPS MAZATLAN is a ministry that works to bring God’s love to isolated places along the coast of Mexico. Sometimes these coastal regions are not well connected to the rest of the country, leaving the people who live there with unique needs that can’t easily be met via land travel.
The Amazing Grace allows us to share the gospel and provide medical brigades in remote, hard-to-reach areas.
This year marks an exciting milestone for YWAM Mazatlán with the first-ever deployment of the YWAM Mazatlán Medical Ship. After years of preparation, the ship set sail on its maiden voyage to scout locations for the ship to anchor and doc as well as areas that are in need of medical aid along the Sea of Cortez. The medical team set up two medical brigades in different locations but the main goal for these first pioneering sails were to scout locations and make connections with families and different isolated churches in these areas.
These voyages where an awesome opportunity to partner with the students from YWAM’s current discipleship schools for their outreaches. The students got to experience what it was like to do missions on a vessel, evangelising and connecting with local churches and the also participated in medical brigades. Alongside the mandatory minimum manning of professional crew the outreach seasons for the ship in the future will focus on being available for students to to come onboard and experience missions in this unique setting also also medical outreach solely for teams of medical professionals to be hosted on the ship and running medical brigades.
Many communities have been waiting eagerly for the Amazing Grace and it was incredible to see the hope and encouragement the ship brought to these areas while being able to share the love of Christ through both action and prayer.
This first 6 months of deployment in 2024 marks the beginning of what is hoped to be a long-term outreach, bringing both healing and transformation to the coastal communities around the Sea of Cortez. It’s a testament to God’s faithfulness and his love for people in these remote areas.

"We are passionate about transforming the lives of those in the surf and skate community. By using these sports as tools for connection, discipleship, and transformation, we build relationships that open doors to share Jesus. Our mission is to create a space where skaters and surfers in Mazatlán can find community, encounter the Gospel, and experience life change. Our heart is to connect deeply with these communities, foster genuine relationships, and disciple those drawn to these sports
t's all about community, relationships, and discipleship living out the love of Jesus as we surf, serve the locals, and build a deeper connection with Him and each other.
MEDICAL BRIGADES
MEDICAL BRIGADES
YWAM Mazatlán's Medical Team is dedicated to providing holistic care through a dynamic three-pronged approach: medical aid aboard a ship, outreach in local Mazatlán communities, and medical brigades to inland locations across Mexico. This year marks a pivotal milestone as we pioneer medical outreach through both the ship and inland brigades, forming meaningful relationships with communities as a foundation for sharing the gospel.
Our base medical team is supported by a network of both local and international medical professionals, all of whom bring their expertise to serve those in need. One of our core values is building healthy, long-term relationships with leaders, churches, and local communities. This approach allows us to make a lasting impact—not just through healthcare, but by also sharing the love of Christ in practical ways.
This year we have committed to two inland locations, the isolated communities in the area of Zapote de Picachos, who have slowly opened up to us over the last 10 years. It has been a huge privilege to now bring medical aid to this area for the first time this year. The second area was three villages 6 hours inland of Mazatlan. This area is heavily dominated by local cartel and so outreach here looked different but they welcomed us back and we looked forward to continuing these relationships to one day be able to speak openly about God here.
